Second Star to the Right

The USS Sirius NX/NCC-1744 is a Constitution-Class, Bonhomme Richard-Subclass Heavy Cruiser. She is 288.6 meters long, 127.1 meters wide, and 72.6 meters high, with a mass of 600,000 metric tons. The Sirius features 23 decks for a crew of 430. Her cruising speed is Warp 7, with a maximum of Warp 9. She is equipped with 7 Dual Emitter phaser banks, 2 torpedo launchers, and deflector shields. While her primary purpose is exploration, she can definitely hold her own in a fight! She is the second ship in the history of the Seventh Fleet to carry the name USS Sirius.

The USS Sirius takes her name from the star Sirius in the constellation Canis Major. With an apparent magnitude of −1.46, Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky. The name "Sirius" is derived from the Ancient Greek Σείριος Seirios, meaning "glowing" or "scorcher". Sirius is also colloquially known as the "dog star." What the naked eye perceives as a single star is actually a binary star system, consisting of Sirius A, and a faint white dwarf companion called Sirius B. It is widely believed that Sirius B is the star referenced in the famous Peter Pan, and later Captain Kirk, quote, "Second star to the right, and straight on 'till morning."
